Ohakune Township
Ohakune is a town made up of two parts, with Snowed Inn being half way between the two, 10 minutes walk in either direction. The centre of town is open all year round and the main service centre. It has bars, cafes and restaurants, the supermaket, shops, sports shops, service station and pharmacy. The Junction at the other end of town is where the railway station is located and comes alive during the winter with ski and board rental, places to eat, bars and night clubs. The Ohakune swimming pool is open during the summer months and is warm place to spend a lazy afternoon. At the base of the mountain road it is the access point for Turoa Ski Field as well as mount Ruapehu and Tongariru National Park. Whether looking for a party during the winter months, some fresh mountain air or a quiet place to spend a lazy summer, Ohakune is the ideal place for a summer or winter getaway.
