Ohakune has trails suitable for all skilll levels from beginners through to experienced mountain bikers and road racers. Ohakune itself is predomantly flat with little traffic especially during the summer and is great for kids wanting to learn. The surrounding area has tracks and loop roads suitable for the more experienced rider. Bikes are available for rent in town and a good supply of bike equipment is available if needed for any last minute repairs.
